Congratulations! - posted at 9:34 p.m.
Pending verification of eligibility, the unofficial winner of January Streak (and one hundred large) is the norgin312 entry with 20 consectuve wins. Norgin312 went 3-0 on the final day of January to overtake two others at 19 culminated by the Florida Panthers 2-0 victory over the Islanders.
Thanks to everyone who played the January 2010 round of Streak for the Cash - all streaks are back to zero tomorrow as another $100,000 is up for grabs!
The Streak is staying the course in February; however, matchups for Monday will not be listed until about 4:00 a.m. Monday's first matchup will be at 3:00 p.m.
Down to the Wire
After Federer's early-morning win over Andy Murray, there are twelve Streakers with active streaks of at least 16 wins. Who will win the hundred grand?*
Does anyone sleep anymore? Streak HQ sure doesn't. Inter visits Parma in early Serie A action.
Long-time Streakers know that Streak HQ loves the big ball. Mike Fagan is at the top of the step-ladder finals and needs to win just one game to be the Fountain Valley champ - however, with rollers like Walter Ray and Pete Weber in the second and third spots, it won't be an easy task.
It's the final round at Torrey Pines, so we've put up a tourney winner proposition. Third-round leader Ryuji Imada is paired with Lefty - or you can take every other golfer in the field.
Los Angeles Lakers at Boston Celtics
It's the number one rivalry in basketball, and it could decide who wins January's SFTC as well. Kobe and the gang visit Beantown; both teams have been playing a bit banged-up. ABC brings you the action at approximately 3:30 p.m.
The NFL's new Pro Bowl experiment debuts in Miami.
After an embarrassing Friday, Streakers turned it around by winning over 70 percent of their Saturday picks.
* Leading entries subject to verification of eligibility
With only two days left in January, there are still a number of Streakers in the running for the $100,000 prize! Saturday alone is a potential 6-7 win day for an accurate prognosticator.
Usually things start from the top, but today we're beginning Down Under. Top seed Serena Williams takes on recently un-retired Justine Henin for the Women's Singles Championship of the Australian Open.
For a slightly different accent, we offer up some English Premier League action. Blackburn visits West Ham; the Rovers get the draw as well.
If a golf tournament is played in the woods, but nobody watches it, is there a winner? We think so. Torrey Pines might be Tiger-less, but Lefty is in action - we match him up against reigning U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover in a front nine showdown. Lucas wins this one if there's a tie.
Kansas Jayhawks at Kansas State Wildcats
This in-state rivalry never lacks for intensity - this edition has a number-one ranking on the line as well. The #2 Jayhawks hope to reclaim the top spot after Kentucky's recent loss, but they'll need to win on the road at the #13 Wildcats. The crowd could lift the hometown five to an upset in this prime time ESPN game.
Streak HQ put the hammer down on Streakers, with the lower-percentage opponent winning almost every matchup. Don't despair - after all... tomorrow is another day.
Keep On Streaking On
We go streaking for another month! February will have the same format as January -- the longest streak during the 28 days will win a Streaker $100,000. Best of luck in the upcoming month!
Boston Celtics at Atlanta Hawks
The Celts have recovered their swagger since the return of the Big Ticket, but Atlanta on the road is no gimme. Streak HQ is calling this one for the Hawks.
The Luck of the Irish is holding up, with a comfortable 3-game lead at the moment.
A possible four-win day starting in France and ending on the hardwood. Best bets for a four win day: Vanness OC scoring first (50%), 2 goals or fewer, Michigan State (-4.5), and Kentucky (-7).
NCAA Basketball: #5 Michigan State @ Michigan
A mismatch on paper but you must remember this is a rivalry game and anything can happen. The spread is at 4.5 but the Spartans are very hot right now, while Michigan is still trying to find their way.
Luck of the Irish is still in the drivers seat with a winning streak of 19 thanks to Wesley Johnson of Syracuse. A few others are three games behind.
A huge day for college hoops. We've also put Italian soccer, NBA, NHL, and some Aussie Open on the slate.
Serie A aficianados should appreciate the afternoon doubleshot - Parma visits Catania at noon, and then Roma and Juventus clash a couple hours later.
In the NBA, the Orlando Magic visit the resurgent Bobcats while the Pistons host the Trail Blazers.
NCAA Basketball: Duke Blue Devils at Clemson Tigers
Two ACC powers collide on primetime ESPN as Duke hopes to improve on last year's result at Littlejohn Coliseum - Clemson gave the Blue Devils one of their worst losses in decades as the Tigers rolled to a 74-47 rout. Duke has struggled on the road this year, and Streak HQ is predicting that Clemson wins this game as well.
With nine days remaining, two Streakers are tied with 17-game winning streaks.
We welcome the Australian Open with open arms today, as matchups will be added throughout the day. Other best bets for today: Ghana (-143), under (-125), Georgia Tech (-2.5) and Wichita State (-3).
NCAA Basketball: #16 Clemson Tigers @ #18 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Two ranked squads from the ACC hit the hardwood in Atlanta with the Yellow Jackets predicted to win by one. But, Clemson is one heck of a team as they destroyed North Carolina last week.
Streakers dipped below .500, finishing with a 45.4 overall winning percentage. No major movements on the leaderboard.
You can go many ways with a day like today. Stick with Hockey all night long or follow games just on our network. Odds-wise, Mali is a 55% favorite, the English League Championship is 50-50, Syracuse -3.5 and Kansas State at -1 (really?).
NCAA Basketball: #1 Texas Longhorns @ #12 Kansas State Wildcats
Not sure why Vegas likes Kansas State tonight because 90% of Streakers and even the evil computers at Accuscore think Texas will win on the road.
We're locked up in a tight one, that's for sure. Five streaks at 16 wins, while our current leader sits at a nice 14 game winning streak.
The Return of the Big Ball
That's right - bowling has returned to SFTC. The prestigious Earl Anthony Classic is down to only four players, and one of them will win the coveted title today in Dublin, California. One side of the bracket has the bigger names (Rash and Machuga), but Anthony LaCaze has been destroying the pins with these lane conditions, so Streak HQ is making the call for the LaCaze/Wolfe side of the matchup. Roll Happy!
A tripleshot of Eurosoccer should please fans of the beautiful game. Juve visits Chievo, Almeria hosts Tenerife, and Benfica travels to Maritimo as we surf through Italy and the Iberian peninsula.
Carlos Boozer vs. Carmelo Anthony
ESPN airs a rare Sunday NBA matchup tonight as Utah visits Denver. On the Streak, 'Los takes on 'Melo, but Boozer gets his boards along with his points, while Anthony gets only his scoring. Stats project about 30 for each side, but how will Deron's injury affect the play?
The weekend has not been kind to aspiring hundred-thousandaires, with the Streak dominating most of the popular matchups. A 34 percent mark on Friday followed by 44 percent on Saturday isn't likely to make anyone rich.
Heavy on the golf early, and heavy on the hoops late.
Orlando Magic at Portland Trail Blazers
Despite their numerous injuries, the Blazers have continued to compete and win games. Can they maintain that success against the Magic? The task will be even harder if Brandon Roy (currently questionable because of a strained hamstring) is unable to play.
Streakers meandered their collective way to a 53 percent mark on Thursday.
Another six-win day? Don't mind if I do! Best bets: Fiorentina (-110), 26th minute or earlier (-116), 2 goals or fewer (-125), Georgetown (-7) winning margin, Providence (-4), and Saint Mary's (-4.5).
NCAAB - Gonzaga @ Saint Mary's
The Zags look the favorites on paper but they are underdogs at a (+4.5) line on the road at a 15-2 Saint Mary's squad. Look for the Gaels to turn some heads tonight.
After "Yellow River Mudhoun" lost with the UConn Huskies, we have a new leader at 16 wins, motownbball14.
Best bet for a six-win day? 2 goals or more at 10:00, Genoa Win (-143), 2 goals or fewer (-118), UConn -6, Kansas double digit win (-13) and Nevada (-3.5).
NCAAB - North Carolina @ Clemson
UNC comes stumbling into Clemson as an underdog (+4), while home squad looks to improve a 1-1 conference record. To say this is a important game is an understatement.
Looks like our leader, Yellow River Mudhoun is staying put for a while as he sits on a streak of 16.
Best way to four-wins, odds wise: Blackburn (+100), Marc Gicquel (-160), Louisville (-3), and Oklahoma State (-1).
NCAAB - Villanova Wildcats @ Louisville Cardinals
A very good team in Villanova (14-1) takes on an always dangerous Louisville squad. Even more reason to watch? It's the Louisville "Whiteout" night which means Rick Pitino will be rocking the all-white suit. That's a great omen, right?
Dev1369 has 16 wins in a row on a overall 19-2 record, wow!
With the morning soccer cancelled, it's a day of basketball, hockey, and playoff football.
NCAAB - Connecticut Huskies at Georgetown Hoyas
Today's featured matchup starts early as these two traditional Big East basketball powers tip off at noon. It's a contrast in styles: the Huskies will try to push the pace where the Hoyas want to slow it down, and the game will probably go to the team that ends up controlling the tempo. Last year the Hoyas peaked with their early win in Hartford, but then lost nine out of twelve games in what was ultimately a disappointing season. The bookmakers have installed Georgetown as a small favorite in this one - the Streak sees the game going the other way, as Connecticut's size will keep Greg Monroe from dictating the inside play.
The magic number has made it up to 16, but that's still only four days of yeoman's work for a Streaker on a roll. On the monthly leaderboard, one entry has jumped out to a surprising 3-game lead, but history suggests that it'll soon be back with the pack.
A four-window day on a depleted board, but saved by the all-important BCS National Title game.
We stay in Spain for the Copa del Rey in the afternoon with both "unders" favored in these lopsided matchups.
In the evening hours, we have a Big Ten basketball matchup with Penn State (-2) favored over Michigan and a low-key game between the Bobcats and the Knicks.
BCS National Championship: #2 Texas vs. #1 Alabama
60% of SportsNation has the Tide beating the Longhorns including a ton of experts. Will Colt McCoy pull a "Vince Young" in Pasadena? It should be a great game, that's for sure.
Another day above .500 for Streakers, including another "lock" correct from our "Intern" Jeremy, who is 3-for-3 in his picks. Be careful Streakers, you're due for a .200 day anytime now.
Another four-window day starting with the Copa del Rey tournament.
In our first matchup, the best bet is Celta Vigo as the get the draw on their home turf. at 2:00 p.m. ET, the under is heavy favorite, so watch out there.
Favorites in college ball are Louisville (-3), Elliot Williams (Memphis), Duke double digit win and Southern Illinois (-1).
Don't forget about Kobe tonight as he looks to light up the Clippers. The over is the smart play here.
GMAC Bowl (Mobile, AL): Central Michigan vs. Troy Dan LeFevour will look to lead his high-powered offense against an underrated Troy team. Look for a high-scoring matchup but expect Central Michigan to pull away in the second half.
A solid day for Streakers, finishing with a .586 overall win percentage. No major streak beakers and our leaders are already at 14, wow.
A nice four-window day on this terrific Tuesday.
On ESPN360.com we have a great Copa del Rey match between the popular Barcelona and Sevilla FC. Barca is a heavy favorite but all Sevilla needs to do is lose by one to win our matchup.
Three 7:00 PM ET college basketball matchups for you. The Irish of Notre Dame are two-point favorites on the road in South Florida on ESPNU, potential player of the year Damion James squares off against Rotneri Clarke, and we have the always entertaining "more 3-pointers" matchup between Minnesota and Purdue.
Two late-night games featuring Phoenix teams round out the day with both Arizona teams favored.
Orange Bowl: #10 Iowa vs. #9 Georgia Tech
The Yellow Jackets are five-point favorites against the solid Big Ten squad, Iowa. Desmond Howard just picked the Hawkeyes on SportsCenter, do you?
The StreakMaster got the best of everyone last night, as Streakers finished with a 43.9 overall win percentage. TCU and the Trail Blazers broke some hearts, that's for sure.
Wow, it's hard to believe we already have five streaks of 10. You guys are starting to get pretty good at this. Let's see what we have for today.
In our lone afternoon matchup, Streakers are leaning towards the home squad, which is rare because they are going against the draw.
In college ball tonight, Louisiana Tech (-2), San Jose State (-3), Nevada (-3.5) and Hawaii (-1) are favored.
Don't forget about the much anticipated Fiesta Bowl tonight with TCU favored by a large margin of seven. This one should be close, right?
Big Monday: Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati
Two semi-surprising teams in the Big East clash tonight. Cincinnati proved last week they play very well at home after being UConn therefore it's no surprise they are favored by four in this one.
Streakers had a solid Sunday, finishing with a .673 winning percentage. Our only big streak breaker was the Cincinnati Bengals second half points.
It's the final Sunday of the NFL's regular season, which means some teams have their playoff lives on the line, while others are simply playing out the string.
Before all that begins, Almeria hosts Xerez in Spanish Primero. The visitors get the draw.
Prefer to stay away from week-17 football? The Flyers and Sabres both travel to Canada in early NHL action.
Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals
Both teams are guaranteed a spot in the NFL's post-season, but the Cards still have a (slight) chance at the number 2 seed and a bye in the NFC playoffs.
The resurgent Spurs bring a 5-game winning streak to Toronto. The recent charge has been catalyzed by improved offense, with San Antonio shooting almost 53 percent in those wins.
An up day for the pickers, who rode South Florida and Gonzaga to a winning mark.
Saturday Evening Wrap
A full day of bowl games, NHL, NBA and college hoops. Many Streakers felt the sting of the upset when the Bulls outdueled the Magic.
In earlier action, South Florida turned it on in the second half to easily beat Northern Illinois. Matters weren't so simple for Gonzaga, who needed overtime to top the Fighting Illini.
The SEC split a pair in the afternoon. South Carolina looked terrible from start to finish as Connecticut controlled the Papa Johns Bowl from beginning to end. Mississippi restored conference pride in the Cotton Bowl as they outlasted Oklahoma State.
Alamo Bowl: Michigan State Spartans vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Enough talk about coaches - it's game time! The sportsbooks liked Tech by over a touchdown, but on the Streak we decided to list it straight up, because hey - we love you!
Streakers opened up 2010 with a whimper as the selections were only 37 percent accurate.
Welcome to Streak For the Cash 2010!
With the new year comes a new round of SFTC. This time Streakers have one month to see how long a winning streak they can build in their quest for $100,000. There's also a prize for the most total wins in January. Good luck!
Many of us might still have cobwebs upstairs when the Outback Bowl kicks off in the morning. Northwestern goes against Auburn; the Tigers are sizable favorites, so on the Streak the matchup is Auburn's winning margin versus the number of times that the Wildcats score.
The Big Ten and the Southeastern are rematched a couple hours later as Penn State plays LSU in the Capital One Bowl. This game is listed straight-up.
In the NHL's Winter Classic, the Philadelphia Flyers travel to Boston to play the Bruins at Fenway Park - weather permitting.
West Virginia and Purdue both take undefeated records and gaudy rankings into an afternoon meeting in West Lafayette. The Boilermakers are favored, but Streak HQ sees this one going to the Mountaineers.
Rose Bowl: Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Oregon Ducks
This year's edition of "the granddaddy of them all" is a traditional matchup of Midwest defense against Pac-10 speed. The sportsbooks have installed the Ducks as mild favorites but the Pac-10 has not represented well in the bowl season.
Streakers closed out 2009 with one of their worst performances of the year - under 30 percent as Air Force and Navy surprised the oddsmakers with easy victories.
