Happy Halloween, Streakers! With a possible five-win day, the monthly title could come down to the last matchup. The Ginn sur Murr Classic starts off the last day of October. Carlos Franco takes on Billy Andrade in a "first nine holes" matchup at 8:40 a.m. ET, followed by Ryan Palmer versus Zach Johnson at 12:30 p.m. ET.
The German Bundesliga makes its Streak debut at 3:30 p.m. ET, with VFL Wolfsburg at Bayer Leverkusen. The home team favored to win this one, even though the odds say it could go either way with the draw involved.
We have two NBA props on the board, starting with a "total points" matchup between the Knicks and 76ers at 7:05 p.m ET, with the over/under set at 216.5 points. Next, at 8 p.m. ET, I put a points plus assists matchup on the board with Rajon Rondo facing Derrick Rose. Both players had a total of 20 in their first game of the season.
Only one NHL matchup on the board with the Chicago Blackhawks favored.
NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Portland Trail Blazers
The Spurs look to use their veteran experience to take down the young Blazers on the road. The Spurs are favored by 1.5 but they don't look as good as they have in the recent past, especially without Manu Ginobili. I actually like the Blazers here in the upset, with Brandon Roy scoring at least 25 points to lead the way.
Yesterday's Results: The overall winning percentage was just what The StreakMaster ordered! 32.4 percent for the day with the South Florida Bulls receiving the prize for the biggest streak breaker. We have two Streakers at 18 wins in a row and two Streakers tied at 58 wins for the month! It should be a very entertaining day on the board.
As always, The StreakMaster will be chatting live at 1 p.m. ET on SportsNation. Stop by and ask him a few questions and voice your opinion on his Halloween costume.
It must be Halloween, nice prank Phillies...oh wait.
My Worst Nightmare Comes True and Wins Per Month Chase Coming Down to the Wire at 3:41 p.m. ET
It must be Halloween, because I feel like I am dead on the set of "Friday The 13th." The Phillies have finally won the World Series. It was extremely hard to watch because this could have been avoided if the Mets could win more then one game in a row in September! But, I have to hand it to the Phillies, they were clutch all year and deserved this title.
Our chase for the wins per month title is very close. Three Streakers have a chance to win the prize, whom have 55, 56, and 57 wins respectively. Tomorrow, I am trying to make a possible five-win day, therefore, it should come down to the last pick.
Pigskin Pick'em; Leaders: 65
The StreakMaster: 53
Eliminator; Leaders: 7914 Perfect Entries Left
The StreakMaster: 7 out of 8
What does this all mean? That The StreakMaster is in striking distance of all of these leagues, watch your backs.
The Ginn sur Mer Classic starts our day with Davis Love III going up against Chris DiMarco in a "lower first nine holes" matchup at 8:10 a.m. ET, followed by Peter Lonard versus Robert Garrigus at 12:10 p.m. ET.
In soccer action, an English Conference match is at 3:45 p.m. ET, with Crawley favored on the road at Salisbury City, which is never an easy place to play. Then at 7:30 p.m. ET, Chicago is at New England with the Fire receiving the draw on the road.
Two NBA games make our board, first at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Mavericks (-3.5) host the Rockets, then at 10:30 p.m. ET, the Suns (-2) host the Hornets.
NHL Favorites for the night: Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadians and the San Jose Sharks
NCAA College Football Thursday: #23 South Florida at Cincinnati
The Bulls of South Florida look to avoid the Thursday night upset when they travel to Bearcat country. Oddsmakers have South Florida listed as the favorites at -2.5 and I expect them to take care of Cincinnati especially after the Bearcats were embarrassed last weekend thanks to Connecticut.
Yesterday's Results: Thanks to a handful of NBA upsets, the overall winning percentage was a poor 41.1 percent. The top streak extenders were the New Orleans Hornets who won on the road at Golden State and the top streak breaker was Stanislas Wawrinka who was knocked out of Paris. We now have three leaders a 18 wins!
"I Love The StreakMaster!" - Tomas Berdych
Raptors/76ers Game Moved Up, StreakMaster Looks Like a Genius After the Tennis Match at 3:29 p.m. ET
With the continuation of game 5 between the Rays and the Phillies tonight, the Raptors and 76ers game has been moved up to 6 p.m. ET. Also, our monthly leader race has tightened up with our leader louye1128 losing today's tennis matchup. Looks like Streakers fell for the seeding instead of following the odds of this morning's match. All hail The StreakMaster!
The Dutch Honorary Division takes center stage on ESPN360 at 3 p.m. ET with Ajax at Heracles Almelo in an over/under matchup, with the line set at 2.5 goals. Heavy favorites Chelsea and Arsenal go at it at 3:45 p.m. ET with a "more goals" matchup against their respective opponents.
The NBA provides us with five matchups with the 76ers, Knicks, Spurs, Thunder and Hornets all favored by slim margins. As much as I love the Knicks, I can't see them defeating D. Wade and the Heat at 7:35 p.m. ET.
Only one NHL matchup on the board tonight with the Red Wings at the Ducks, with the defending champions favored on the road.
World Series, Game 5: Tampa Bay Rays at Philadelphia Phillies (Continued)
They will try it again tonight at 8 p.m. ET, beginning at the bottom of the sixth inning. I believe this layoff helps the Rays because Cole Hamels is now out of the game. It seems that Vegas agrees with me, listing the Rays as the favorite at a minus-160 line.
Streakers stayed around the .500 mark ending the day with a 55.2 overall winning percentage. The top extender for the day were the Chicago Bulls led by Ben Gordon's (told you!) 18 points. Three leaders are on top of the leaderboard with 17 wins in a row, while our monthly race looks to be coming down to the wire.
The question now is, will the World Series finish before Thanksgiving?
World Series Game 5 Postponed...Again. at 3:32 p.m.ET
Major League Baseball has postponed the continuation of Game 5 that was supposed to be finished tonight, due to inclement weather. Game 5 is scheduled to continue Wednesday at 8:37 p.m. ET, in Philadelphia. Nevertheless, the matchup has been taken off the board. Enjoy some indoor NBA action tonight!
The match between PSV and Ado Den Haag of the Dutch Honorary Division starts our day at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN360 and gives us a "total goals" matchup with the over/under at 2.5 goals. The English Premier League also makes our board with West Brom at Newcastle with the home team slightly favored.
Two college football games make our board with a "straight up" matchup on ESPNU between Buffalo at Ohio (-2) and a "total points" prop for the Houston-Marshall game at 8 p.m. on ESPN2 with the over/under at 59.5.
Also, the NBA season starts with two player props. LeBron James' points go against Kevin Garnett's points and rebounds at 8 p.m. ET. LBJ averaged 30 points-per-game last season while KG averaged 19 points and 9 rebounds. Expect Bron-Bron to have a unbelievable season and he should be your number one pick in every Fantasy Basketball draft. For the 10:30 p.m. ET Blazers-Lakers game, I featured two young big men who look to have breakout seasons, Greg Oden and Andrew Bynum in a "more points" matchup.
NHL favorites for the night: Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames and the Vancouver Canucks.
NBA Opening Night: Milwaukee Bucks at Chicago Bulls
Two Eastern Conference playoff contenders, Bucks and the Bulls go head-to-head in their first game of the season. The Bulls are favored by six and I am hoping Ben Gordon scores 20 points because he is on all my fantasy teams (my sleeper of the year.)
Streakers finished with an overall winning percentage of 59 percent, with the top streak extender being the Tennessee Titans who stay perfect at 7-0. The top streak breaker was Dinamo Moscow who lost at home to CSKA Moscow 3-1, in the Russian Premier League. Our newest leader is now at 17 wins!
I used to like Jim Tressel and his sweet sweater vests. Now, not so much.
Ohio State Proves There Is No Such Thing as a Lock at 3:35 p.m. ET
So, I lost my last two "Locks of the Week" that I tell Streakers in my live chats (Fridays at 1 p.m.) Both times, The Ohio State University were the cause of my losses. Right when I think the Buckeyes were having an off-year, they destroy Michigan State. That win proved to me that they were national title contenders again, so I was confident they would beat Penn State at home this weekend. But, no, they lose and look nothing like the team I saw the week before. So, that's it. I'm done with Ohio State, period. I am admitting my locks are no longer locks. Therefore, use my advice at your own risk. Updates on the "Beat The StreakMaster" mini-game groups will be coming shortly.
Love/Hate the locks of the week? Want to give The StreakMaster advice? Tell him your thoughts and opinions on his ESPN Profile.
Two soccer matches start off our busy Monday. First, at noon ET, slight favorite CSKA Moscow is on the road at Dinamo Moscow in the Russian Premier League. Next, at 3:45 p.m. ET, Estrela Amadora travels to Braga in the Portuguese Super Liga, with the home team favored.
Our "Monday Night Football" prop features the Colts' Reggie Wayne against Tennessee's Chris Johnson in a "receiving yards vs. rushing yards" battle. Also, our first NHL prop hits our board at 8 p.m. ET, with Patrick Sharp of the Blackhawks against Antti Miettinen of the Wild in a "more goals" matchup. Both forwards are leading their squads with five goals apiece on the season.
NHL favorites for the night: Anaheim Ducks, New York Rangers (upset special?), and the Edmonton Oilers.
MNF: Indianapolis Colts (3-3) at Tennessee Titans (6-0)
The Titans look to stay perfect when they host Peyton Manning's Colts at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Tennessee is favored by four points and rightfully so since they're undefeated. However, you can't rule out the Colts, who have had been of the best teams in the NFL over the past few years.
Ouch! After a phenomenal two days over 70 percent, Streakers finished the day with a dismal 31.2 overall winning percentage. The two Tampa's were the top streak breakers with the Rays losing to the Phillies, 10-2, and the Bucs who lost to the Cowboys, 13-9. Two leaders sit on top of the leaderboard with 16 wins each.
There are two "straight-up" matchups at 1 p.m. ET between the Buccaneers (+2) at the Cowboys and the Chargers (-3) at the Saints. The two props in this time slot feature two premier receivers, Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Smith battling it out for "more receiving yards". Also, Michael Turner takes on Brian Westbrook in a "more rushing yards" matchup. Keep in mind, Westbrook is only listed as probable and may not play.
The seventh race in NASCAR's "Chase for the Cup" at 2 p.m. ET features the two favorites Carl Edwards (4/1) and Jimmy Johnson (7/2) going head-to-head in a "better finish" matchup.
In the NFL afternoon slot, the two "straight-up" matchups are between the New York Giants (+2) at the Steelers and the Seahawks (+5) at the 49ers. Our props start at 4:05 p.m. ET featuring Steve Slaton going up against the Cincinnati Bengals backfield in a "more rushing yards" matchup. Also, Derek Anderson takes on David Garrard in a "more passing yards" matchup.
World Series, Game 4: Tampa Bay Rays at Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies look to take a commanding lead with a win tonight at home. With the Rays down 2-1 in the series, tonight is a game they need to have in order to have a chance to take the title. Both starters haven't pitched in a while, so it will be interesting to see how long they will stay in the game. I expect this one to be decided by the bullpens.
Streakers made The StreakMaster look like a fool last night, finishing with a 79.3 overall winning percentage. Alabama, Texas Tech and Michigan State were the days big winners, while Curlin was the only major streak breaker. Our leader jka25 is up to 17 wins in a row, winning two matchups yesterday.
Saturday features the most matchups (17) on our streak board and a chance for a six-win day! Monthly leaders, make sure you pick as many matchups as possible in order to make a run at the prize with only a few days left in the month. College football starts at noon ET, on our family of networks -- ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU. The favorites for these three games are Illinois, Texas Tech and Miami (Fla.). Three games at 3:30 p.m. ET, (say that, five times fast) follow with Florida State, LSU and Michigan State favored.
I put three more Breeder's Cup races on the board in the early evening starting at 3:55 p.m. ET with the Juvenile race with Munnings favored at 7/2 odds. Next, the Turf matchup at 6 p.m. ET is featured with Soldier of Fortune favored at 7/2 odds. For the main event at 6:45 p.m. ET the Classic features the world's richest horse, Curlin (7/5 odds) going up against Raven's Pass and Go Between.
The evening football games favor Alabama over Tennessee (upset special?) at 7:45 p.m. ET, Oregon over Arizona State at 10 p.m. ET and Nevada over Hawaii at 12:05 a.m. ET.
Don't forget Game 3 of the World Series at 8 p.m. ET with the Rays favored on the road over the Phillies at minus-115. I like the Rays with Garza on the mound. I see a high scoring game, around the 7-3 area.
NHL favorites for the night: Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars and the Phoenix Coyotes
NCAA Football: No. 3 Penn State at No. 9 Ohio State
Since the Big Ten doesn't have a conference title game, this is the best we are going to get. Ohio State is actually the underdog in this game, which I think is ridiculous. Penn State has not played a great team yet and will receive a wake-up call at "The Shoe". I see a 28-20 Buckeye victory coming. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Streakers had an impressive day, finishing with a 71.6 overall winning percentage. The top streak extenders were the Boise State Broncos as well as both horses who were favored in their respective races. Our leader, nugget3535 now has 17 wins in a row, nice work!
Kevin Na takes on Mark Hensby at 9:45 a.m. ET in a "lower second-round matchup" in Scottsdale, Ariz. Rory Sabbatini tees off against Sean O'Hair at 2:48 p.m. ET.
Next, we have a "total goals matchup" between Crewe and Tranmere from English League One, with the over/under at 2.5 goals.
The Breeder's Cup on ESPN2 at 4:55 p.m. makes its debut on our board with the Juvenile Fillies race. I put a "better finish matchup" on the board and featured the top-two favored horses, Sky Diva and Stardom going head-to-head with 7/2 and 2/1 odds, respectively. The Ladies Classic at 6:15 p.m. ET takes center stage with highly favored (5/3 odds) Zenyatta against Music Note OR Ginger Punch, who are predicted to finish in second and third.
NHL favorites for the night: Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers, and the New Jersey Devils
NCAA Football: No. 12 Boise State Broncos at San Jose State Spartans
Boise State looks to stay undefeated when they travel to San Jose State to play a quality Spartans team. Boise State is favored by seven, so it won't be a cakewalk but look for the Broncos to stay unbeaten.
Streakers had a great day, totalling at a 68.2 overall winning percentage. Leading the way were the Tampa Bay Rays followed by both favored golfers in Rocco Mediate and Mike Weir. We also have a new leader, who is now up to 16 wins!
Don't forget to chat with The StreakMaster today at 1:00 p.m. ET, to hear what he says to say about the World Series, the start of the NBA season and his domination of the leaderboard as of late.
8:55 AM ET: Cole Hamels/Scott Kazmir Prop Corrected
My apologies to Streakers who picked Hamels as the winner and lost their streaks temporarily. This issue has now been fixed and all streaks should be intact. Thank you all for being patient and letting us know the error, keep streaking!
The Frys.com Open tees off at 9:45 a.m. ET with Rocco Mediate facing Ryan Moore in a first-round matchup. This is followed by defending champion Mike Weir taking on Aaron Baddeley at 2:48 p.m. ET.
The UEFA Cup continues at noon ET with Deportivo La Coruna at CSKA Moscow. The road team received the draw. Aston Villa at 3:15 p.m. ET looks to use the home crowd to their advantage when they host Ajax Amsterdam.
For Game 2 of the World Series, I put both starting pitchers in a "more strikeouts" matchup with James Shields getting the slight edge at home.
Lastly, the MLS is on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. ET for "MLS Primetime Thursday." Chicago hosts the New York Red Bulls, with the visitors receiving the draw.
NHL favorites of the night: New York Islanders, Nashville Predators, and the Colorado Avalanche.
World Series, Game 2: Philadelphia Phillies at Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays look to James Shields to even up the series at the Trop. Tampa Bay is favored at minus-148 and I think they will hit Brett Myers hard, they are too good to lose both games at home. Look for a 6-2 Rays victory and a tied series heading to Philly.
I guess Streakers didn't want to take my advice as the Tampa Bay Rays were the day's top streak breakers. The overall winning percentage was 50.5 percent, just an average day for Streakers. Lastly, our leader, shamrockbell is still at 15 wins in a row.
The UEFA Champions League continues with two matchups at 2:45 p.m. ET. First, Liverpool (34 percent chance of winning) takes on Atletico Madrid (38 percent) on ESPN2 in a "straight-up" matchup, which once again means if a draw occurs it will be ruled as a "push." In the same timeslot, two top clubs, Barcelona and Chelsea are in action as heavy favorites in their respective matches. I matched the teams up against each other in a "more goals" matchup.
With the World Series starting at 8 p.m. ET, I put two player props on the board. Sluggers Ryan Howard and Evan Longoria battle it out for a "more total bases" matchup while starters Cole Hamels and Scott Kazmir square off for a "fewer" hits matchup.
NHL favorites of the night: New Jersey Devils, St.Louis Blues and the Chicago Blackhawks
World Series, Game 1: Philadelphia Phillies at Tampa Bay Rays
The World Series is here! At 8 p.m. on FOX, the Rays look to use home-field advantage to draw first blood when they host the Phillies. Currently, Las Vegas has the Phillies favored at minus-115. With Hamels on the hill, I have to take their side. Look for the Phillies to take Game 1, 5-3.
Ouch! Tuesday was a rough one for Streakers, finishing with a 27.7 overall winning percentage. The No. 1 heartbreaker was Real Madrid, who lost on the road to Juventus, 2-1. Congratulations to the 1.9 percent who picked this matchup correct, including myself, The StreakMaster! Meanwhile, our picky leader sits at a respectable, 15 wins in a row.
The UEFA Champions League resumes play at 2:45 p.m. ET on ESPN2, featuring a "total goals" matchup between Manchester United and Celtic. The over/under is set at 2.5 goals.
Real Madrid is on the road at Juventus at 2:45 p.m. on ESPN360. Because both have similar odds to win, there will not be a draw included. If the match ends in a tie, it will be ruled a "push."
NHL favorites of the night: Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Calgary Flames.
NCAA Football: Ohio Bobcats (2-5) at Temple Owls (2-5)
The Temple Owls are favored by three points as they host the Ohio Bobcats. Both are struggling this season but they are looking to put on a strong showing on national television at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
My apologies for not getting this out sooner, Streakers. The overall winning percentage was 41.1 percent. The top streak breaker were the Broncos, whom I picked as well. Nothing like a three-game losing streak to start the week!
Also, I wanted to respond to some of the comments. Yes, I am still writing the blog every day. They are being edited and set up a bit differently now, but, I hope you still will enjoy reading them.
The English Premier League kicks things off at 3 p.m. ET with Manchester City going up against Newcastle. With the over/under at 2.5 goals, I chose to do a total goals matchup. There are a few props up for "Monday Night Football," starting with Brandon Marshall vs. Wes Welker in a "most receptions" matchup. Marshall is predicted to have a huge day but Welker always has a good number of catches each game as well. I also put up a most points matchup between the first half and second half of play for the game. NHL favorites for the night: New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and the Colorado Avalanche.
MNF: Denver Broncos at New England Patriots
The Patriots (-3) look to take down the Broncos at home at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. I am surprised to see that the Patriots are favored but they don't usually lose two games in a row. I actually like the Broncos here because quarterback Jay Cutler is playing extremely well, while Matt Cassel has been struggling since replacing Tom Brady.
It was an entertaining Sunday, with some NFL upsets and the Rays making it to the World Series. The overall winning percentage was a decent .536 with the Tampa Bay Bucs as the day's top streak extender. The New York Jets were the day's top streak breaker. Our leader sits at 16 after making his first pick in six days.
Do you have a question or comment for The StreakMaster? Become his ESPN friend and let your voice be heard!
NFL Sunday kicks off at 1 p.m. ET with straight-up matchups featuring the Vikings (+3) at Bears and the Saints (+3) at Panthers. The early prop features, LT against Marshawn Lynch in a most rushing yards matchup. LT looks to be getting healthier each week therefore, I give him the edge. 4 p.m. ET straight-up match-ups feature the Colts (-2) at the Packers and the Jets (-3) at the Raiders. The two props in this time-slot features Braylon Edwards against Santana Moss in a most receiving yards matchup as well as Frank Gore versus Brandon Jacobs in a total yards battle. Late NFL game features Seattle Seahawks at Tampa Bay Bucs.
ALCS Game 7: Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays
8:05 p.m. ET start for what could be the MLB game of the year. Jon Lester goes for the Sox while the Rays throw Matt Garza. Vegas favors BOS -129.
Streakers bounce back with first day over .500 since last Sunday, posting modest 59.7% Winning PCT. Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns biggest winners. Connecticut Huskies and Tampa Bay Rays big losers. Leader at 16 goes down with UConn. New leader Sewruk moves to 16 with LSU winner. Tight race continues on top the Monthly Leaderboard with two entries tied at 33 wins.
We have plenty of college football matchups starting at noon ET with Purdue at Northwestern (+4), UConn (-1.5) at Rutgers and Georgia Tech (-3) at Clemson. In the afternoon matchups, Ohio State (-3) at Michigan State, Stanford (-2.5) at UCLA and in a largest margin of victory matchup, Miami (-3) at Duke and North Carolina (-4.5) at Virginia. I think both teams will win by double-digits but I'd give North Carolina the edge. Our night games feature Virginia Tech (+3) at Boston College, LSU (-3.5) at South Carolina and the biggest game of the night, Missouri (+5) at Texas.
The NHL favorites for the night are the Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, and St.Louis Blues.
ALCS Game: Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays
The Red Sox look to hang on for another day when they take on the Rays. Tampa Bay is coming off a heartbreaking loss in Game 5. The Rays (-140) send their ace James Shields to the mound against a struggling Josh Beckett in Game 6. If the Red Sox can extend their season, Jon Lester is anxious to pitch against the Rays in Game 7 and have a chance to put an end to the Rays' magical season.
Streak carnage with 19.6% Winning PCT. Boise St. OVER, San Jose Sharks and Rich Beem the day's biggest losers.
Rich Beem and Charlie Wi tee off at 10 a.m. ET in a most-birdies matchup over 18 holes and Steve Flesch faces Brian Gay at 3:57 p.m. ET in a lower first-nine holes matchup. Flesch and Gay shot a two-under 70 in the first round. This matchup should be a toss-up.
In the Dutch Premier League, Volendam is on the road at Den Haag at 2:45 p.m. ET. The over/under is set at 2.5 goals. There is not much information on this league, so I'll follow the odds and say it's basically a toss-up.
The NHL favorites for the night are the Columbus Blue Jackets, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings.
NCAAF (Hawaii at Boise State): How many POINTS WILL BE SCORED in the game?
Hawaii travels to Boise State (8 p.m. ET on ESPN) where the Broncos are virtually unbeatable. With the Broncos favored by 25, I put a total points prop on the board, with the over/under set at 51.5. I expect a rout, and Ian Johnson to run wild as he always does at home.
It was another rough day for Streakers as they finished the day off with a 41.1 overall winning percentage. The top streak breaker was the BYU Cougars, who got destroyed by TCU, 32-7. Our leader is still at 16, staying away from the board again. Also, don't forget to chat with me, The StreakMaster today at 1 p.m. ET. We'll discuss the Dodgers being eliminated, the Red Sox surviving and who will be my lock of the weekend.
If you won the million dollars wouldn't you re-create this scene from the movie, "Blow"? I know I would.
4:24 PM ET: Where Are They Now? Streak Leader Special
Five Streakers have had streaks of 19 or more, but nobody has seen them on the leaderboard since. I went the extra-mile to find out how they have been doing since their well documented "Drive for 25." Here's what I found:
josevilla30: Best streak - 19. Lost his streak on a soccer match and has not been the same since, only achieving a streak of three since.
calvinurso: Best streak - 19. Lost two-in-a-row after his highest streak ended, and has only had streaks of three since.
Fargonauts: Best streak - 19. Lost three-in-a-row after his highest streak ended. Has had a streak of seven since, but, can't buy a win lately.
cmp25: Best streak - 20. Has been 1-3-1 since his run ended at 20. The leaderboard curse continues.
bobb1982: Best streak - 21. StreakMaster's favorite dad has been treading water around the .500 mark since his run ended last Saturday.
The StreakMaster: Best streak - 6. A lousy 15 wins this month to go along with an awful .543 winning percentage. But, 4-1 in locks and still the game's best hair.
Justin Timberlake hosts the Shriners Hospitals Open in Las Vegas, Nev. Our matchup features Joe Ogilvie facing Charley Hoffman in a lower first nine-holes battle at 10:57 a.m. ET. The Blue Square Premier League at 2:45 p.m. ET features Cambridge at Forest Green with Forest Green receiving the draw. Also, on ESPN at 7:45 p.m. ET, North Carolina State hosts Bobby Bowden's Florida State Seminoles. With Florida State favored heavily, I decided to put a total points prop on the board with the over/under currently at 48.5. NHL favorites for the night: Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins and the St.Louis Blues.
ALCS Game 5: Tampa Bay Rays @ Boston Red Sox
The Rays look to make their first World Series appearance with one more victory over the Red Sox.
Rays manager Joe Maddon switched his rotation to start Scott Kazmir and he will face Daisuke Matsuzaka. Las Vegas has given the Red Sox the edge with a -150 line. The defending World Champions won't go down without a fight -- just ask the 2007 Indians or the 2004 Yankees.
Thanks to the United States losing to Trinidad and Tobago, 2-1, the overall winning percentage was a subpar 47.9 percent. Our current leader is at 16 wins and our leaders of the month are at an impressive 27 wins. I know the Dodgers are out of the playoffs but I guess I can't be right all the time. Even the best fall sometimes. Don't worry -- you all can make fun of me in my weekly chat at 1 p.m. ET Friday.
World Cup qualifying takes center stage at 1 p.m. ET with the Netherlands at Norway. The Dutch are favored after a strong Euro 2008 showing, but watch out for the home squad who could easily pull off an upset. The United States visits Trinidad and Tobago (ESPN, 8:11 p.m. ET) in a qualifying match and is favored slightly. The United States defeated Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 at home last month and has already qualified in their group. If you're thinking about taking the United States, be aware that their starters might sit or play fewer minutes during this game.
In the NHL, the undefeated New York Rangers are favored at home against the Buffalo Sabres at 7 p.m. ET. The Phoenix Coyotes are also favored when they host the Chicago Blackhawks at 8:30 p.m. ET.
NLCS Game 5: Philadelphia Phillies at Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers looks to avoid elimination at home. Philadelphia has all the momentum after winning Game 4 on the road and are favored to win the series tonight with a minus-120 line. Chad Billingsley needs to pitch the game of his life and get some help on offense from Manny Ramirez to send the series back to Philadelphia.
There wasn't a lot of movement on our leaderboard even though Streakers only had a 48.8 overall winning percentage. The top streak-breaker was the Boston Red Sox, now down 3-1 to the Rays in the ALCS. Our leader is still at 16 after taking the day off.
The UEFA U-21 Championship kicks off our day at 11:30 a.m. ET and features the second leg of Finland vs. Austria. Please note our matchup features only 90 minutes plus injury time and not the aggregate (total combined score). In the NHL, the Flames are favored at home against the Avalanche at 9:30 p.m. ET, and the Kings host the Ducks at 10:30 p.m. ET. Los Angeles is favored.
ALCS Game 4: Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox
Tim Wakefield looks to help the Red Sox even the series after a blowout loss to the Rays on Monday. Currently, Boston is favored with a minus-145 line, but you have to think Tampa Bay has all the momentum right now. We'll see if the Fenway faithful can provide some home-field advantage and help the Red Sox earn a victory.
The Cleveland Browns did some major damage to our leaderboard. Our former leader, who was 20-0 coming into Monday, went down, along with 95 percent of Streakers who picked the Giants to win. The Red Sox and Maple Leafs also did damage on our board, leaving the overall winning percentage at 18.6 for the day. Yes, for all of those who are curious, I am loving every minute of this. All hail The StreakMaster!
The CFL starts us off at 1:00 p.m. The first Canadian Thanksgiving game will be a high scoring one with Hamilton at Montreal and the over/under is set at 57.5. In the English Conference, Mansfield will go on the road to face the favorite Burton at 2:45 p.m. At 4:30 p.m. our final CFL offering between Calgary and Saskatchewan will feature a straight up matchup. The Roughriders are favored by six.
Switching to baseball, both the ALCS and NLCS take place tonight and the Red Sox and Dodgers are the favorites.
ESPN Monday Night Football: Giants Rushing Yards vs. Browns Receiving Yards
The Giants great rushing attack is up against Cleveland's passing yards for our featured matchup of the night. The three-headed-monster of the G-Men are projected to run for 180 yards while Derek Anderson will look to air it out for the Browns. If Braylon Edwards has a monster game, the Browns could win this prop.
cmp25 decided to take today off and enjoy his lead at 20. As for the rest of you Streakers, the overall winning percentage for the day was 55.5%. The top streak breakers were the Chicago Bears who fell to the Falcons and the top extenders were the Green Bay Packers who took care of the Seahawks on the road.
Welcome to another jam-packed NFL Sunday. At 1:00 p.m., there are two straight up matchups: Buccaneers (-1.5) vs. Panthers and Bears (-3) @ Falcons. Along side 'em, we have two props as well: T.J. Houshmandzadeh versus Jerricho Cotchery in a more receiving yards matchup and the Rams points scored against the Redskins winning margin. At 4:15 p.m., the Packers (+1) are at the Seahawks and Tony Romo squares off against Kurt Warner in a more passing yards matchups. At 8:15 p.m., the Patriots (+6) are at the Chargers and Matt Cassel takes on Philip Rivers is another more passing yards prop.
NLCS Game 3: Phillies @ Dodgers
The Dodgers (-155) look to avoid a 0-3 deficit in their best of seven series against the Phillies. The Dodgers won all four games against Philly at home during the regular season and look to keep the trend going. If the Phillies win game three, this series is all but over and my World Series pick goes down the drain.
Another Streaker hits the 20 mark! cmp25 is undefeated during his time Streaking, but once you hit twenty, things seem to change around here. Let's see how he handles the pressure in comparison to our past leaders. Overall, Streakers had a tough day, finishing with 47.7 overall winning percentage with the top streak breaker being the Oklahoma Sooners of course. In my lock of the week, Florida took care of LSU at home in a blowout, 51-21. That's now three-in-a-row for StreakMaster locks!
4:18 PM ET: Texas and Bulgaria Tear Up The Leaderboard
Bobb1982's streak of 21 ended today thanks to Texas defeating #1 ranked Oklahoma 45-35. I must say he gave it one heck of a try but like I always say, nobody wins on The StreakMasters watch. Bulgaria also earned a 0-0 draw against Italy, which took out a few more Streakers on the leaderboard. It's a great day so far!
The biggest college football game of the week kicks off our day at noon with Texas versus Oklahoma (-6) in Dallas. In our other afternoon football games, South Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Notre Dame and Michigan State are all favored. At 8:00 p.m. LSU travels to the Swamp in Gainsville to take on SEC foe and six-point favorite, Florida. At the same time on ESPN2, Oklahoma State takes on Missouri in a total points prop with the over/under set at 79.5 points.
Italy faces off against Bulgaria at 2:15 p.m. in the UEFA World Cup Qualifying tournament with Bulgaria receiving the draw. Also, don't forget about Game 2 of the ALCS at 8:07 p.m. between the Red Sox and Rays.
NCAA Football: No. 6 Penn State (6-0) @ No. 24 Wisconsin (3-2)
People are loving the Nittany Lions as of late, but they can't overlook Wisconsin this week. The Badgers have lost two straight games in the Big Ten (Michigan and Ohio State) and I think Penn State beats them as well. The spread is six but I think Penn State beats the emotionally drained Badgers by at least 10.
Yesterday's Results: bobb1982 is killing me over here. 21 wins-in-a-row, unbelievable. Only four wins away from a life changing amount of money, can he handle the pressure? There are a lots of matchups to choose from today, I can't wait to see his next move. Streakers totalled a 52.7 overall winning percentage with the Dodgers are the top streak breaker and Louisville as the top streak extender.
Starting things off on our board at 9:00 a.m. is the PGA Texas Open with Rory Sabbatini taking on Scott Verplank. At 1:00 p.m., the UEFA Under-21 Championship makes its return with two powerhouses, Germany and France, with Germany favored at home. Both LCS games take place today. Game 2 of the NLCS is at 4:35 p.m. with the Dodgers favored at -111 while the ALCS is at 8:35 p.m. with the Rays favored at -113. One final racing prop will finish the day with Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch hitting the race track in the Nationwide series prop at 8:00 p.m. on ESPN2.
NCAA Football: Louisville (2-2) @ Memphis (3-3)
A very important game for both Louisville and Memphis tonight as one of these teams will be over .500 and make a run at a bowl berth with a victory. Memphis is 2-1 at home this season while Lousiville has yet to play on the road. Las Vegas has the Tigers favored by six points and I expect this game to come down to the final drive with the total score in the upper 50's.
20 wins has been reached! bobb1982 has not lost a streak matchup since September 30th, unbelievable. He is only five wins away from one million dollars, can he hang on? As for everybody else, Streakers finished with a 53.0 overall winning percentage, with Wake Forest as the top streak extender.
In the English Conference at 2:45 p.m., Oxford United takes on Torquady in a total goals matchup with the over/under set at 2.5. On ESPN at 7:30 p.m., Clemson looks to turn their season around on the road against 21st ranked Wake Forest with the Demon Deacons favored by two points. In the other college football game of the night I put Houston's winning margin against UAB's longest touchdown. Houston is favored by 18 but UAB did have an 18-yard touchdown in their previous game. Keep in mind that if Houston goes down, their score will be entered as "0". We also bring back MLB player props with NL MVP contenders, Manny Ramirez and Ryan Howard battling it out for more total bases. At 10:00 p.m. on ESPN2 the New York Red Bulls are in Utah taking on Real Salt Lake, with the home team favored. NHL odds for the night: Colorado -140, Vancouver -135 and San Jose -140.
NLCS Game 1: Dodgers @ Phillies
Game one of the NLCS takes place tonight at 8:22 p.m., with the Dodgers at the Phillies. Philadelphia is the favorite at -140 and send ace Cole Hamels against Derek Lowe who is 4-0 in his last six postseason starts. Philly and L.A. tied their season series 4-to-4 with both teams winning all four at home. Something's got to give tonight.
bobb1982 is still on top with 19 in a row. The majority of Streakers picked two out of the three matchups correct. The top streak breaker was the cricket match, which didn't come close the number targeted. No runs were scored when the first wicket went down. Tough break Streakers! The overall winning percentage was 77.4.
It was difficult to find suitable matchups for today's board, but I did however, find three matchups that meet the game's criteria. Starting things off at 8:00 a.m. is a tennis match from the ATP Kremlin Cup taking place in Moscow, Russia. Fabrice Santoro is the favorite but he will face a tough opponent in Denis Istomin, who knocked off No. 6 seeded Michael Llodra yesterday. At 8:00 p.m., Montreal and Joe Public square off in the CONCACAF Champions League. Our prop asks, how many total goals will be scored? In the first leg of their matchup, Montreal defeated Joe Public 2-to-0 at home. We'll see what happens in leg number two.
Cricket (Australia vs. India): How many NUMBER OF RUNS will be scored when the FIRST WICKET FALLS?
With a limited number of matchups to choose from, I decided to give Cricket a try. Australia and India are two great teams going head-to-head for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Australia has been dominant in Cricket for a very long time, but some Cricket experts consider India to actually be the favorite to win this match. With no clear-cut odds, the matchup will instead ask the question, how many number of runs will be scored when the first wicket falls? The first wicket could go down in minutes or better yet, hours. Please be patient with me as it may take some time to enter the result in the early morning hours. Enjoy the match!
bobb1982 still owns our leaderboard, and with his victory today, picking Troy to win, he has reached the deadly 19-win mark. Can he stop the trend and be the first to reach 20? Let's see if he makes a pick today, with only three matchups to choose from. As for everybody else, Streakers had an overall winning percentage of 77.7 precent. Nice work!
There's only one October...for Streakers!
bobb1982 looks like he is trying to become the new StreakMaster. With 18 wins in a row, he is on top of the streak leaderboard and his 15 wins this month are good for first place in the month of October. Congratulations bobb1982, enjoy your moment of glory because in Streak for the Cash, nobody stays on top for long. StreakMaster guarantee.
With the Portuguese Super Liga receiving a lot of action on our board yesterday, I decided to bring another match in for today. At 2:45 p.m., Maritimo is on the road at Veitoria Setubal. The home team is favored to win the match outright and with the rowdy home crowds in this league it's hard to argue with those odds. Also, I put an over/under matchup on the board for the ESPN College Football game between Troy and Florida Atlantic tonight at 8:00 p.m. Vegas had the over/under at 51.5, but I decided to move it up a few points due to the fact the game is nationally televised.
NCAA College Football: Troy at Florida Atlantic
Florida Atlantic (1-4) looks to salvage their season against Troy (2-2). The Trojans are favored by four points on the road, but don't sleep on Florida Atlantic who are at home and have a good shot to pull off an upset.
Looks like josevilla30 caught the 19-win deadly virus as he was taken off our leaderboard thanks to a goal in the 88th minute by Leixoes, to earn the draw. Overall, Streakers had a very rough day, coming in with only a 27.6 overall winning percentage. Looks like The StreakMaster had the last laugh of the day and I would personally like to thank Leixoes, Minnesota and Reggie Bush, along with my three correct locks this weekend.
11:54 AM ET: Questions About Today's Prop
I just wanted to clarify tonight's prop between Peterson and Bush. The matchups is AP's RUSHING YARDS against Bush's TOTAL YARDS, which include: rushing, receiving and return yards. Enjoy the matchups today, Streakers!
Only a few matchups on our board today. Our first match starts at 4:00 p.m. with the Portuguese Super Liga on ESPN360 featuring Leixoes hosting the favorites, Benfica. Keep in mind our Insider winner did win on a soccer match to win his grand prize; just a thought for our leader. At 5:07 p.m. we have game four of the Rays-White Sox series with the White Sox favored at -120. Also, the Red Sox look to end their series with the Angels tonight at 8:17 p.m. Finishing off our night is ESPN's Monday Night Football game with the Vikings on the road at the Saints. New Orleans is favored by 3 points.
NFL Monday Night Football (AP vs. Reggie Bush): Who will record a higher total?
Two of the leagues best running backs go head-to-head in our featured matchup of the day. Adrian Peterson is predicted to have a huge day rushing while Bush should have an all-around solid game. Look for both runners to rack up the yards in this highly entertaining game.
josevilla30 has tied our streak record with 19 wins in a row! We'll see how long he can last as we have seen previous leaders lose their streak after reaching this mark. Streakers overall had a 49.1 overall winning percentage with the top streak breaker being the Boston Red Sox who lost game three in extra innings last night.
Welcome to another jam-packed NFL Sunday! Beginning at 1:00 p.m. we have the Titans (-3) at Ravens, Bears (-3.5) at Lions, Santana Moss versus DeSean Jackson in a most receiving yards matchup as well as a most passing yards matchup featuring Eli Manning against Matt Hasselbeck. At 4:15 p.m. the Bills (+1) are at the Cardinals, the Bengals receiving yards take on the Cowboys rushing yards and Frank Gore goes up against the Patriots rushing yards. MLB odds for night: White Sox -142 and Red Sox -175.
NFL Sunday Night Football: Steelers at Jaguars
The Jags look to continue their winning streak Sunday night when they host the Steelers. Both teams are playing well as of late but it seems the Steelers have been bitten by the injury bug, losing a lot of players as of late. I know Pittsburgh wants to get revenge from last season's playoff loss to Jacksonville but I can't see the Jags losing at home, who look like they're finally getting things together.
Streakers had a solid day once again, finishing the day off with a 66.7% overall winning PCT. We now have two leaders at 17 wins in a row heading into NFL Sunday. The top streak breaker were the Auburn Tigers who lost a close one on the road at Vandy and the top streak extender were the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech who stuck it to Duke, 27-0.
Lots to preview today with a jam-packed Streak board! For our noon college football games, BC (-8) is at NC State, and Duke +13 (too high of a spread) is at Georgia Tech. At 2:00 p.m., South Carolina (+2) is at Ole Miss and at 3:30 p.m., Florida State (+2) is at Miami, Illinois (+3) is at Michigan and Texas Tech (-7) is at Kansas State. Our night games feature Connecticut (+7) at North Carolina and Ohio State (-2) at Wisconsin.
The NHL gets underway Saturday with Pittsburgh against Ottawa in Stockholm, Sweden and the MLB playoffs continue with the Phillies going for the sweep at Milwaukee (-115), are the Brewers really favored? Also, the Cubs (-135) are in L.A. against my World Series pick, Dodgers.
NCAA Football: #14 Auburn @ #19 Vanderbilt
College Gameday is in Nashville this weekend where Vandy looks to topple SEC powerhouse, Auburn. The Tigers are favored by four on the road, but with a sold-out crowd don't sleep on the Commodores. It should be a low scoring game -- expect a close one.
Yesterday's Notes: No major upsets to report, but Streakers did earn a 68.6% overall winning PCT. We now have two leaders at 16 wins-a-piece heading into College Football Saturday, good luck to all!
4:53 PM ET: September Monthly Winner Announced, StreakMaster's Chat Audience Nowhere To Be Found
A lot of things to go over before I head out for the weekend. First and foremost, be sure to check out our feature article on September's "Most Wins" prize winner, Debbie Payton. Debbie is an elementary school teacher, and still managed to win 55 matchups. Now that's commitment!
I also held my weekly chat earlier today and there were maybe 10 Streakers in the room. So, I'm wrong on one StreakMaster lock, then nobody shows up? To get my fans back, I'll offer two locks this for this weekend along with a fantasy sleeper for you to pick up this week:
Illinois beats Michigan at the Big House, and Eli Manning destroys Matt Hasselbeck on Sunday. As for the fantasy sleeper of the weekend, I had a long chat with TMR about who to choose and we (ok fine, he did most of the talking) decided on Chad Pennington. If you don't have him, trade for him, now! Stat! Pronto! By the way whoever is sending TMR all of these posters of Anne Hathaway and the cast of 90210, can I get something? I don't care if it's a One Tree Hill poster, I'll take anything. By the way, whoever did not participate in the chat will have their streak broken next week, a StreakMaster guarantee. I'll get my revenge.
Happy Friday, Streakers. Remember at 1:00 p.m. today you can chat with me, The StreakMaster on any topic you would like. As for today's matchups we start with the White Sox looking to bounce back against the Rays who hold a 1-0 lead in this best-of-five series. The Rays are once again heavily favored with the line opening at -155. Game two of the WNBA finals takes center stage on ESPN with another over/under matchup with the line set at 145.5. The final score was a combined 146 in Game 1 and expect another score close to this one. At 8 p.m., the Cincinnati Bearcats are on the road at Marshall with the line favoring the Bearcats by 3 points. The CFL finishes off our night at 10:00 p.m. with Calgary at Saskatchewan.
ALDS Game 2: Red Sox @ Angels
The Red Sox look to capitalize on their game one victory with another win on the west coast. Dice-K goes up against Ervin Santana in what should be a pitchers duel, but I'd give the Angels the edge in game two. They didn't win 100 games just by luck.
Yesterday's Notes: Those pesky Pitt Panthers strike again! Wow, another upset on Thursday Night Football. With South Florida and the Cubs going down, the overall streak PCT dipped below .500 for the first time in a while. 41.5% is just where The StreakMaster likes it, and how about my Dodger pick? Our new leader stands alone at 16.
The Rays make their playoff debut at 2:30 p.m. on TBS as they host the White Sox at the Trop. The Rays are favored at -185, but that seems a little high with the White Sox on a roll. At 6:00 p.m. C.C. Sabathia looks to save the Brewers again when he goes up against the Phillies. How much longer can one guy keep a team afloat? Not much longer if you ask me. On ESPN at 7:30, the Pittsburgh Panthers look to serve up an upset on the road at South Florida, with the Bulls favored by 13. The Panthers can beat anybody especially in the Big East, just ask West Virginia. We also have some MLS action on ESPN2 with San Jose on the road at Dallas.
NLDS Game 2: Dodgers @ Cubs
The StreakMaster's pick to win the World Series looks to take a 2-0 lead on the Cubs in Wrigley. The Buzz-saw takes on Zambrano in what should be a pitchers duel, but who knows how long Big Z's arm can hang on. The Cubs are favored at -150, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the Dodgers win this one.
Streakers were one goal away from taking a major hit in their overall winning percentage. Thanks to Lionel Messi, yesterday's percentage was 59.5%. Our new leader has a two-game lead over the competition with his streak of 17. Thank you to the Dodgers for defeated the Cubs, which shattered our previous leader's streak at 19.
The StreakMaster is now chatting live every Friday at 1:00 p.m. and don't forget to become a fan of The StreakMaster. I'm only 1,032 behind The Talented Mr. Roto!!! So close...
4:54 PM ET: Barcelona Just Broke My Heart
Just when I thought things were looking up, Lionel Messi has to shatter my dreams by scoring two goals in the final five minutes of game. Myself and 0.8% of Streakers could be leading the month of October right now, but no, Shakhtar Donetsk can't finish Barcelona off, not even for a draw. Maybe the Phillies will choke and give up their 3-0 lead right now, yeah right. Who am I kidding?
The UEFA Champions League kicks off our day once again with two matchups at 2:45 p.m. On ESPN Deportes, Thierry Henry and Barcelona take on Shakhtar Donetsk. Streakers overwhelmingly like Barcelona here but odds only have them as a slight favorite. On ESPN2, Liverpool hosts PSV Eindhoven. With Liverpool heavily favored, we put a total goals prop on the board at 2.5.
The MLB playoffs start up tonight with games at 3:00, 6:30 and 10:00 p.m. The favorites are the Phillies -200, Cubs -155, and Angels -132. If your team is out of the playoffs, like my Mets, and you refuse to watch baseball, we have some college football lined up for you on ESPN with Boise State hosting Louisiana Tech. This matchup features Boise State's first half points against the total points of La Tech.
WNBA Finals (Game 1) Detroit @ San Antonio: How many POINTS WILL BE SCORED?
The WNBA Finals begins tonight on ESPN2 with the Eastern Conference Champion, Detroit Shock against the West Champs, San Antonio Silver Stars. With the Stars favored at home, I decided to put a total points scored prop on the board. The line is 146.5, so what do you think? Higher or lower?
We have our first (unofficial) winner of September! Ddpayton100 is our winner with 55 wins last month, with a solid .630 winning percentage. As for yesterday, Streakers made me look bad once again finishing with a 78.4 overall winning percentage. The StreakMaster needs to make some changes around here.
