If there's a part of the game you find confusing, it's probably bewildered someone else as well. The following are the questions most commonly asked by our entrants.

Q: How do I create an entry?

A: From the game's frontpage click on the "Create A Bracket" button. You will next be asked to enter your game settings such as entry name. After you are done editing these options, click the Create A Bracket button at the bottom of the page. You have now created an Entry. From your entry page, you now can make your selections in the Men's College Basketball tournament bracket and create or join a group.

Q: What is the deadline for entries?

A: Entries (and any changes to the bracket) must be completed by the time of the start of the first game on Thursday, March 16th, 2023.

Q: How do I change my entry name?

A: You can change your entry name by clicking on the "Entry Settings" icon on your entry page, located at the top of your bracket page by your scores. You can change your entry name as often as you like. 

Q: How do I join a new group?

A: From the "My Groups" dropdown menu click on "Create or Join a Group" or click on the Group Directory link in the Entry navigation links. From the Group Directory you will have the option of joining a public or private group. You may also create a new group if you desire a place for personal friends, family, co-workers, or random basketball fans like yourself to compete. Note: As the creator of a group you must set the name, motto and the group's parameters.

Q: What Is The Group Directory?

A: The Group Directory displays all the groups that have been formed in Men's Tournament Challenge. Groups allow participants of the game to compete against each other and the Group Directory makes it easy to find a specific group.

Q: Can I play against ESPN Celebrities?

A: Absolutely! From the Group Directory you can select the "Fans of" or "Celebrity" links to display only those groups. Select the celebrity group that you would like to join and click on the "Join Group" button from within that Group's page.

Q: How do I search for a specific group?

A: If you know the name of the group that you are searching for, use the search engine in the Group Directory. Type the first letters of the group name, and select the group you are looking to join.

Q: Why can't I add a logo to my group?

A: Your group must be a private group in order to utilize the logo feature.

If you are using a private group you can link to an image on the Internet to use as your group's logo. Enter the URL of the image into the box labeled "Image URL", found in the "Edit Group Settings" tab.

Q: What should I do if I've forgotten the password to the private group I created?

A: You can find the password in the informational area at the top of your Group page. As long as you are a member of the group (or the group's creator), the password will be displayed.

Q: What do PTS, PCT, and RK mean?

A: PTS are the total amount of points that your team has accumulated since the start of the tournament. PCT represents the percentile your performance falls within, graded against all other entrants in the game. RK is your numerical rank in the entire field of entrants. 

Q: I can't seem to enter ESPN Men's Tournament Challenge with success. What's wrong?

A: To fully enjoy the features and design that ESPN Men's Tournament Challenge has to offer we recommend that you use the most recent version of a browser such as Chrome or Safari.

Q: Will you be automatically sorting the Group winners so I know which bracket had the closest tiebreaker score?

A: Group administrators must compute these tiebreakers on their own, if two brackets tie with the same bracket points value in their group(s). Tie breakers are decided by "winner score + loser score" relative to the "actual game score". This is due to the high volume of brackets and the taxing computations needed by ESPN to automatically break ties in a near real-time fashion.

Q: Why the random drawing for the Grand Prize?

A: Beginning in 2012, ESPN became a broadcast partner with the NCAA. As such, we were bound by their rules, and the main clause which states 'the contest winner must incorporate a random drawing element for any prizes'. For the $50,000 in Grand Prizes we choose to include every entry that correctly picks the national champion to be eligible for the ten drawings of $5,000 each.
